Health & Safety
Providing a HEALTHY, SAFE and SECURE environment is our HIGHEST PRIORITY. Our schools closely follow Michigan Child Care Licensing Standards and CDC guidelines as well as recommendations from state and local officials and health authorities at all times. We strive for excellence and take extreme CARE to keep our children and staff safe.
Our Current Health & Safety Practices
PROTECTIVE MASKS
Face coverings are required for any adult entering the building (all staff members wear them when working with children). Where required by law or licensing, children must also wear masks.
TEMPERATURE CHECKS
We are screening everyone (staff, children, parents, visitors, etc.) upon arrival for temperature and evident symptoms. We also screen 2 - 3 times throughout the day.
LIMITED ACCESS
To minimize the spread of germs and control group size, we are having parents and family members remain in the lobby or common areas of the center only.
WELLNESS CHECKS
Regular wellness checks are being conducted throughout the day. The parents of unwell children are notified immediately and sick staff are sent home to help stop the spread of illness.
Sleep Safely
All teachers practice both visual contact and active listening and supervision. In cots and cribs, age-appropriate bedding is always used. Every baby is put on their backs for sleeping and teachers continually conduct regular checks on children who are napping.
Health and Cleanliness
We've kick up our hand washing game. Our staff schedules regular hand washing breaks to prevent germ-spreading. We always monitor children for signs of illness and immediately notify parents if their child is unwell, which also stops the spread of illness. Classrooms are regularly cleaned and disinfected with child-safe products.
Food Safety
Our food is catered and delivered to each location. The menu is planned by a registered dietitian to ensure your child is eating a well-balanced nutritious diet while at school. The meal size is appropriate for the age group being served and meets CACFP requirements. Staff are trained and must have the appropriate food handling certification to serve meals. During meal and snack times, all children must be supervised by a staff member seated at the same (or a nearby) table.
Protect & Serve
Emergency and evacuation supplies are in every classroom. Our staff is trained to protect our little ones. All staff have CPR and First Aid certifications and we have regular drills and training for multiple emergency and evacuation situations (including earthquakes, fire, and more). We have a designated Safety Captain and we follow state standards for CPR and first aid training. We practice active supervision and abide by licensing guidelines for ratios to guarantee direct supervision of children at all times.
Watching Closely
All of our schools have a comprehensive video monitoring of the school environment, offering peace of mind. A multi-room display in the Director's office presents a live, real-time, closed-circuit feed of classrooms, playgrounds, lobby entrances, and exits. We view this feature as an extension of our open-door policy and commitment to transparency as well as an additional layer of supervision. It demonstrates our confidence in our outstanding team of employees and the high level of care provided.
Play Safely
We consistently disinfect toys and inspect them for broken pieces or loose parts. For little ones under 3, we look for choking hazards. All our playground areas are surrounded by secure fences, and safely designed fall zones prevent playground injuries.
